I love the Hannibal Lecter series. I love all of the sociopaths that appear in them: Grutas from Hannibal Rising, Dolarhyde from Red Dragon, Buffaloo Bill from Silence of the Lambs, Verger from Hannibal and, of course, Hannibal himself. I love how all of them are fleshed out, their reasons and their MOs, from Dolarhyde's BDD to the relation between power and protection present in Hannibal's cannibalism. But my favourite is Buffalo Bill. For me all the art and all the creativity was put into the creation of his character. Plus he's the only one who classifies as an actual sociopath. Grutas, despite being the less psycho and the most 'functional' of them all, is the only one who comes near, with his completly desregard for the actual existence of others (for better or for worst) and for consequences. I dare say that Hannibal himself is the least sociopath, because he's still too bound to life (that's why I've never had much respect for Voldemort: he's too afraid of consequences (hell, the reason behind everything he does is his fear for the ultimate consequence) to be an actual sociopath. Grindelwald, on the other hand... &hearts).
What was my surprise, when I found out that in a list of the worst written, most clichéd queer characters in cinema, Buffalo Bill was present (I can't remember: is he gay or is he 'just' trangender? Anyway, he's queer). He puts queer people in a bad light.
Right.
Of course, him being a trangender is pivotal for his MO, but he's such an amazingly constructed character, there's so much complexity to his mind, that his queerness is just another characteristic. No one that unique can mirror an entire community.
What is, for the makers of that list, to put queer people in good light? A piece of shit like Friends & Lovers? Where there's this very secondary character, who's the token nice gay guy, who's friends to all of the main characters, and he's so cute and... nice. And then he falls in love with the token hot black guy and their relationship is worked out in the background, in a very 'sensitive' manner? Is that what they want in cinema? The patronizing, the total lack of respect for gay people (and black people, for that matter) as actual complex human beings, by making them cardboard-cut symbols for folklore and good intentions? Please, don't.

Anyway, while reading DH, I came across that part where we found out that Albus and Elphias were planning to go in a trip to Greece when they finished school. And... Two young men wanting to go together to Greece in the 19th century. Two young men. Going to Greece. In the 19th century. Are you fucking kidding me?!?!? For me, if that wasn't a sign, then JK was not only oblivious, she was down-right STUPID (the purple suit so many are pointing out, for me never meant anything, because... Have you guys ever actually noticed wizarding fashion? Come on!)
The thing is, I never gave much credit to JK's brain and was starting to fear that she was indeed that stupid and that in the encyclopedia with have a token gay pairing like in Friends & Lovers.

Thank you, Jk. Like I said in my previous post, Albus/Gellert is the most well-written pairing in Canon. How Albus' manipulating and controll-freak personna works with Gellert's sociopathic and megalomaniac own... And the Leopold&Loeb vibe they give...
I never thought you had it in you, JK!

Sorry for the mad rant, guys. ^_^

IT'S OFICIALLY CANON!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And, man, sa far as token gay couples go, this is probably the best written, less clichéd there is. Hell! I'm willing to say it's the best written CANON couple in the whole series. ^_^
